Released by Crannog Ales in the early 2000s, Back Hand of God became a quiet phenomenon. Dark, balanced, and effortlessly drinkable, it hit a sweet spot the craft beer scene was missing. Word spread brewery to brewery, bottle to bottle. If you knew, you knew. No hype. No marketing machine. Just a great stout that earned a devoted following the old-fashioned way.

Back Hand of God

Brewed with organic BC Goldings hops from Left Fields Organic Farm in Sorrento, BC.

Back Hand of God is a smooth, dark stout with incredible balance and drinkability.

It pours deep black with a soft, creamy off-white head. The aroma brings forward roasted barley, cocoa, and a hint of caramel, followed by flavours of coffee, dark chocolate, and gently toasted malt. It’s rich without being heavy, bold without being bitter, and finishes silky smooth.

A stout with depth, simplicity, and standout flavour. Easy to appreciate, hard to forget.

Where Their Story Meets Ours

Long before BNA had a name, Crannóg was already setting a standard for craft beer in BC, inspiring brewers and quietly shaping the landscape along the way. Over the years, admiration grew into friendship, rooted in shared values and a mutual respect for beer made with care, intention, and integrity. Today, that story comes full circle as we help bring Back Hand of God into cans for the very first time. It’s a meaningful moment for us a chance to honour a legacy, celebrate a relationship, and share a beer that’s inspired more than we can measure.
